This award is open to organisations that have implemented innovative waste management strategies to reduce, recycle, and repurpose waste, minimising environmental impact and promoting a circular economy. The judges will want to understand how your organisation has transformed waste management practices, including efforts to reduce landfill dependency, optimise recycling processes, and implement sustainable waste reduction initiatives. You must explain what you have achieved so far, particularly in the past 18 months, and what you plan to achieve in the future. Evidence of a well-defined strategy with clear targets, measurable outcomes, and year-on-year comparisons is essential. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a structured plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background: Describe the size and nature of your organisation, including waste management challenges and sustainability journey. Highlight relevant certifications, benchmarking, or external validation of waste reduction initiatives.
  • Waste Transformation Strategy: Outline your approach to waste reduction, recycling, and resource recovery, including key objectives and measurable targets.
  • Implementation & Innovation: Summarise key initiatives undertaken, such as zero-waste strategies, circular economy practices, waste-to-energy projects, and innovative recycling programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness: Explain how employees, customers, and stakeholders have been engaged in waste transformation efforts. Describe training, awareness campaigns, and collaboration initiatives to promote waste reduction.
  • Outcomes & Measurable Impact: Provide quantifiable results, such as reductions in landfill waste, increased recycling rates, resource recovery improvements, and cost savings. Include year-on-year comparisons and real-world examples.
  • Future Goals & Continuous Innovation: Outline future plans for waste transformation, upcoming innovations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
